CHAMBERS & STATION
Mt Eden, Auckland
Chambers and Station shows what can be done to retain and improve our limited historical buildings. These are two of the rarest heritage buildings in Auckland and together they make a unique pairing for upscale living, reflecting their eras and styles – inside and out. A new link in structural glass connects the two buildings but ensures their heritage is dominant.
2001 – 2007
Lighter Quay is prime waterfront land successfully transformed into a prestigious enclave of luxury apartments built around a private marina. Transforming this western edge of the vibrant Viaduct Harbour created one of Auckland’s most prestigious waterfront neighbourhoods. Lighter Quay’s success comes from the simplicity and robustness of the master plan, a focus on design and attention to detail and quality.
The 24-storey Quadrant offers 250 studios of one and two bedrooms combining style and service to meet the demands of business or leisure travellers. It incorporates a dramatic double-height entry lobby, a Japanese garden and direct internal access to the Hyatt Hotel lobby and health spa. It creates a large space on a relatively small site in a prime location.
Scotia Tower is a 14-storey, 84-apartment development overlooking Myers Park. Templeton Group designed these one-bedroom apartments to meet a researched need for quality, efficient and professional accommodation in the CBD. Built using an innovative timber and steel frame, saving both time and cost, apartments have windows on at least two sides, thick polished timber floors, and features to maximise space.
The five-star Sofitel Hotel with 173 sumptuous and stylish suites is set in Auckland’s vibrant Viaduct Quarter. Previously The Westin, it is part of Templeton Group’s vision for the wider Lighter Quay area in this prime waterfront location. The Sofitel fronts onto Viaduct Harbour with magnificent street appeal, complementing the luxury apartments in the Stratis, North and Halsey buildings.
1998 – 2000
The four-star Sebel Hotel sits at the city end of Viaduct Harbour, five minutes from the CBD, with 144 suites and harbour-side restaurants on the ground floor. Redevelopment of this industrial site set a milestone for the later regeneration of Viaduct Harbour. The Sebel has consistently traded above projections and become one of the most successful hotels in Auckland.
Unilodge Anzac caters for the specific needs of international students studying in Auckland, with 156 stylish studio-style apartments for 250 students in a 20-storey tower. Unilodge was the first privately developed purpose-designed complex of its kind. The Unilodge formula and its marketing strength has always maintained occupancy rates of over 90 percent. As a result of this success, Templeton Group went on to build Unilodge on Beach Road.
