Held at the iconic Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell, this year’s awards celebrated 36 projects across the region, recognising excellence in architecture—from innovative schools and community spaces to high-density residential developments. The jury, led by Guy Tarrant and comprising respected architects from around the country, noted a strong focus this year on affordable housing solutions, smart spatial design, and sustainable materials.
Among the winning projects, Light-Box stood out for its intelligent planning, urban sensitivity, and refined architectural language. Designed by Novak+Middleton, the development demonstrates a thoughtful response to density and liveability, setting a new standard for multi-unit housing in Auckland.
The project was brought to life by Templeton Group, under the leadership of Nigel McKenna, a name synonymous with some of New Zealand’s most recognised urban developments. His portfolio includes award-winning landmarks such as Lighter Quay Development, The Quadrant, Stratis at Lighter Quay, Viaduct Harbour, Beaumont Quarter, North at Lighter Quay, The Sebel Viaduct Harbour, Colenso Building (Wellington), and Holiday Inn Wellington.
